What’s the best way to join the rarefied ranks of the poker elite?

Well, the road is long and strenuous. You must dedicate yourself to poker — body, mind, heart, and soul. Or something like that.

The truth its that not everybody has what it takes to be an elite poker player. Get used to the possibility that you may not be one of the chosen few.

However, in poker as in so many other things, what you are born with only tells part of the story. You might have great instincts but terrible strategy, or a head for numbers but a weakness for impulsive moves. These things can cripple you if you don’t take the time to recognize them, and take steps to keep them where they belong.

What you do with those gifts — or none at all — is usually the difference between an elite player and a mere dabbler. And I hate to admit it, but I’m really just a dabbler. I’m rarely any more successful at poker than I am at online slots.

Luckily, I’m a dabbler who has studied and practiced. So I do have plenty to offer the players that are actually talented, and/or dedicated enough to put themselves into that elite circle. Perhaps you will have what I lacked, young padawan (LOL).
